Matthew 3:1

Mark 1:1 – 4

Luke 3:1, 2

John 1:19 – 28

Matthew 3:1  In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea,

Mark 1:1  The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God;

2  As it is written in the prophets, BEHOLD, I SEND MY MESSENGER BEFORE THY FACE, WHICH SHALL PREPARE THY WAY BEFORE THEE. ? 1

3  THE VOICE OF ONE CRYING IN THE WILDERNESS, PREPARE YE THE WAY OF THE LORD, MAKE HIS PATHS STRAIGHT. ? 2

4  John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. ? 3

Luke 3:1  Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judaea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of Ituraea and of the region of Trachonitis, and Lysanias the tetrarch of Abilene,

Luke 3:2  Annas and Caiaphas being the high priests, the word of God came unto John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness.

John 1:19  And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou?

20  And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ.

21  And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elijah? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No.

22  Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?

23  He said, I am THE VOICE OF ONE CRYING IN THE WILDERNESS, MAKE STRAIGHT THE WAY OF THE LORD, as said the prophet Isaiah. ? 2

24  And they which were sent were of the Pharisees.

25  And they asked him, and said unto him, Why baptizest thou then, if thou be not that Christ, nor Elijah, neither that prophet?

26  John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not;

27  He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe's latchet I am not worthy to unloose.

28  These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing.
